Fauske Athletic Club was established in 1981. Key figures in the founding phase were Kai Fauli, Jan Jensen and Konstantin Dimitru, a Romanian with wrestling in his blood. The club's first leader was Gunnvor Helbekkmo.

Fauske AK quickly became an important player in local sports, producing talents who made their mark both nationally and internationally.

Ørjan Wenberg and Dag-Egil Rugås, the club's long-serving coaches, have received Fauske municipality's cultural prize for their contribution to wrestling over several decades. Petter Karlsen set a sporting highlight when he became Nordic Champion in 2012.

In recent years, former wrestlers Isak Bø Rørnes and Petter Karlsen have taken over as coaches for the club.

As an organiser of major championships, Fauske Athletic Club has built a solid reputation and experience at the national level. The awarding of several Senior Norwegian Championships in recent years is testament to this.
